Cenote's in Yucatán Peninsula Mexico

in #my-pictures2 years ago

Cenote is an underground cave formed under the earth. Some of them are filled with water.
In my understanding Cenotes are unique phenomena for the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico. There may be other places that have the same geological phenomena.
I have visited some of them recently.

The limestone formations inside the cenote's are really interesting. They grow milli-meter by millimeter over time.

If you look closely you can see some of the formations tips are broken mostly by human activity.

All these caves are under these forests. I think the whole underground caves are more than a few kilometers long. Maybe I just lost direction inside 😅

These pictures are part of an adventure park Xplor. I am not a huge fan of adventure parks. But I enjoyed the experience of cenotes. I am not sure the day entry is much crowded or not. I chose the night entry. It may be dark anyway under the caves :) Almost all the places were empty and I thought a few times did I lost inside the cave.

As you can see from the images. The Underground caves are clearly marked and lighted properly.
