All I know is that I went to a few comic book stores this year on Free Comic Book Day. Of course, I made sure I went to Conquest Comics in Bayville. Also, I never just grab the free comics and leave because they are in the business to make money. However, I must have entered a time machine because a few of the freebies were from 2022. After checking my calendar, we are in 2024! One of these books from two years ago was Spider-Man / Venom #1. While I have been keeping up with Venom, Spider-Man is another story.

Elroy Huxley has been sending his mail through the same mailbox for the past twenty years. However, this particular day Huxley is in for a surprise. He is chewing his favorite non-sugar free gum that he has been telling his wife is sugar free. Apparently, a symbiote has been keeping tabs on him as this day he is attacked by the mailbox he is using when the symbiote living in this box decides to make itself known.

Luckily for Huxley, Spider-Man arrives just in time. The poor old man doesn't understand Spider-Man's sophomoric humor, but our friendly neighborhood hero doesn't mind comedy critics. Caught by a woman using her cell phone, Spider-Man tries to explain to her that this destruction of federal property is warranted but she doesn't care. Doing what any other hero would have done, he takes off. This appeared to be a setup for Spider-Man to get caught, but Huxley had nothing to do with it.

In the start of another story, Eddie Brock is searching for his son. Normie, believing he should stay away from Dylan, watches as he transforms into Venom. Dylan needs Normie's help to find his father but they both need the protection of a symbiote. The book ends with a very brief piece on the Avengers as they deal with the Revenant Stone. The Spider-Mail was very helpful in catching me up on the world of Spider-Man.
