How about the fact that nearly every single open world game as well as many popular MMO's have actual fishing spots in them now? I see it pop up in almost every game now and I have to admit, it is kind of fun.

They're fun to interact with but there often isn't much mystery in those fishing spots. Some of them are added as an afterthought or another means to obtain food for survival open world games. The list of catchables are small and some games don't progress the catch list beyond the beginning stages. Still good to participate in when wanting to take a quiet moment in game!
