Presenting one of my favorite parts of being filipino... the Filipino street food!
One of my favorite parts of travelling to new places is being able to try out their food. So I believe that it would be part of the experience of coming to the Philippines to taste as much filipino food as you can.
I'm sure a lot of people are familiar with panict, adobo, and lumpia, but there is so much more to the filipino cuisine! In this picture, we have piles of filipino bbq street food. Loads of people eat this on a daily basis because it's very inexpensive and they are sold everywhere. Vendors set up stalls next to schools, outside malls, along the busy streets in the town propers, and at the night market where people do a lot of shopping.
This picture was taken in the San Fernando night market. My boyfriend and I went down to San Fernando yesterday for a swim and needed to get our street food fix, and our favorite place to grab street food is the San Fernando night market so we headed there right after swimming and pigged out!
These food are quite... peculiar in a sense. Haha! But I promise you they are delicious!
Betamax- Blocks of pig's blood. They are nicknamed 'betamax' because of their shape and dark color. This is my personal favorite!
Isaw- Chicken intestines! These are best eaten when they are crispy on the outside but soft on the inside, straight from the grill, and dipped in spicy vinegar. Another personal favorite of mine!
Gizzard- This is a part of the chicken's stomach. It's pretty chewy so I personally like it best when it's cooked a little well done.
Chicken Head- I haven't tried this one yet because I imagine there isn't much meat to get from the head but I plan on doing so the next time we take a swimming trip!
Bituka- Pig intestines! My boyfriend's favorite. These are also really delicious when they are slighty floured and deep-fried!
These are just some of the street food available. There are so much to try and explore! Although peculiar, I promise you they taste great! Enjoy the full experience of being in the Philippines by having a bite of some of these, you won't regret it. ❤
