Hello, you can call me Afolwalex.

I guess I saw the signs earlier. I stopped posting to steem a long time ago. To be precise, my last post was two months ago. The motivation and zeal to write stopped flowing. All I could do then was participate in some Review Hunt tasks. Guess what brought the motivation back? Yes, you guessed right. Hive!

I was scrolling through my feeds today to read amazing contents when I saw the introductory challenge written by @anomadsoul. Since I wanted to write today, I decided to come with a good start - know one or two things about how amazing I am and what I've been up to these past days.

You've probably seen this on my profile: "Sport analyst, Writer and Programmer." This doesn't say a lot about me, does it? I have always wanted to be all of that, but it turned out I could only do one at a time. Why? Life hasn't been fair. One minute, I'm a writing a line of code and the next minute, I'm listening to what a client actually wants. I guess coding took much of my time and didn't allow me to dive into other things I could/can do perfectly. Okay. Enough of excuses - time to know who Afolwalex really is.

The name, Afolwalex

This was gotten from the combination of my last name and first name. Some people call me Alex while some just stick to Lex, but the truth is, my real name isn't any of those. Nigerians should have heard of "Walex". It's a branded nick name for those called Wale. Wale in Yoruba language means "come home" and that's weird for a name, right? Wale is actually a short form of "Olawale" which means "wealth came home", and that's my real name. Walex was gotten from Olawale while Afol was gotten from Afolabi.

I got the nickname far back in 2012. My friends can me Afo then, so I decided to join to my name to it to get a unique brand name.

Life as a blogger

Blogging made me learn how to write. I started with sport articles and that was what birthed my passion to becoming a sport analyst. My written weren't so good then, but my thoughts, opinions and predictions were solid. I got better and it led me to other opportunities. Aside being paid to write sport articles, I was able to understand a lot of things, too.

I didn't stop at sport writings. I developed an interest in story telling and educative writings. My steem blog will attest to that, but that's bygone now. You will see more of me here.

What I've been up to

Coding! That's one word for it. I studied computer science in school and wanting to program made me choose the course in the first place. You can tell how displeased and dissapointed I was when I graduated without being a badass developer. I'd have taken time to learn after I graduated but other things and interests came up. But I decided to use the end of last year (starting from August) to refresh myself with lots and lots of programming courses. I'm now a Javascript developer (Full stack) with a flair for python programming, too. Let me not bore you with coding talks. In summary, I've been busy developing softwares for testing purposes and for clients. In few months time, I'll be vast in blockchain technology and probably develop a dapp on Hive.

In conclusion

All the zeal and motivation I'd lost are now fully back thanks to Hive. Sporting activities has been halted due to the pandemic going on, so you won't be seeing sport articles from me anytime soon, but you will get to see my other interests and the power of my pen.

I'm Afolwalex, and I'm here to stay!

Welcome me to the Hive chain.
