I figured it was about time that I do an introductory post here. On here I go by Samks, but you can just call me Samantha. My wonderful husband of almost 14 years got me started on Steem and now here. A lot of you may know him, he goes by @Appalachain.

Him and I met when I was in 10th grade and he was in 9th. Pretty funny story, which I love to tell because I feel it is very unique. I was dating someone else at the time and it was my birthday. My boyfriend at the time thought it would be hilarious to handcuff me in the lunchroom that morning and here came @Appalachain, whom I didn't even know, and he helped handcuff me, tickled me, and disappeared. I spent my entire summer trying to find out who he was and where he was. Later the next school year I met someone online through Hotmail, yes, Hotmail. We talked for a couple weeks before he finally sent me a picture, and it was him! Fast forward 3 years, we get married and have a wonderful son, @t07.

I'm 33, mother of 1, wife, cook, maid, teacher, you name it, I do a little of everything it seems lol. I've been homeschooling my son since his 2nd year in 1st grade. Our local school system failed him terribly. His 1st grade teacher in particular. So after a month of weighing the pros and cons, we decided to pull him out and do it ourselves. Homeschooling isn't for everyone. It is demanding, difficult, mentally and emotionally draining. Not just for me, but my son as well. There's a lot of adjusting, fighting against it, etc. I give it to those who chose being a teacher as their career. My son drives me absolutely insane sometimes, I couldn't imagine an entire classroom. He is now 13 and we still have our difficulties at times, but the older he gets the easier it is. I wouldn't have it any other way though. Our school system is terrible, I lived through it myself.

We have 2 awesome dogs. A mountain curr mix named Dixie who is almost 10. And our most recent addition, a german shepherd named Kiera that is almost 5 months old.

For years my husband worked in the manufacturing industry but now he is a member of our local plumbers and pipefitters union. Being a homeschooling family makes it easy to travel with him and see different places. I personally love the travel, even though it is hard at times to be away from everyone I know. His first job was a papermill in Virginia for a week. Figuring out how to make it work in a hotel was very interesting to say the least. I have since figured out a better flow. The next job was in Folly Beach, South Carolina.

By far my favorite as far as location. We were blessed enough to stay in a vacation rental, a beautiful townhouse, just 3 blocks from the beach. We also spent some time in Crew, VA. Very small town, no major stores. Had to drive 30 minutes to get to Walmart. My next favorite was Cartersville, Ga. I grew up just a bit away from there in Marietta, Ga so being back near my hometown was just amazing. It was the first time in over 20 years that I had been back. Then we were in Jasper, Alabama for a bit. Not too much to say about that one. The hotel was, well, it had a bed lol. And mold, and blood splatter. It was an adventure to say the least. The most recent we came back from was Monaca, Pennsylvania. We were there for 10 months, in a hotel, for 10 MONTHS! It was worth it though because there were many families traveling together and I made some wonderful friendships. One that might even give me a sister-in-law one day!

When we aren't on the road, we currently live with family. Working towards our goals of buying land and building a home. Granted it has come with difficulties. I have parents that can't say no and a brother that has a problem with drugs and mental issues. It hasn't made things easy and we've had to fight to keep a safe home for everyone. I won't go too deep into that, as we are still dealing with it at this time.

When I actually have a moment to myself, I am a pretty simple to please lady. I enjoy just sitting around listening to music, playing games, or watching shows that I love. This whole Covid-19 thing has put a bit of a damper on life, as all of you know, no matter where you are from. We try to be creative but that is a bit difficult at times. All the state parks have been closed along with everything else so home is where it's at. Though they are getting ready to start opening things back up again. A little premature in my opinion but at least the parks will open back up. It'll give us something to do. What I can't wait for is warmer weather and fishing! Ask me what I want to do when it's warm and that will always be my answer. Fishing is my relaxation.

All in all that is me in a nutshell. I'm sure I have forgotten something or rambled a bit too much. More of my life to come!
