There are a quite a few fish derbies around here in the early springtime, with CASH grand prizes of 50,000Cash+ and plenty draws for other fishing items(shacks,lures,ice augers), atvs, boat and motor, trucks etc
Thats funny right there, you say spingtime, uh, looks like winter. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but just because some idiot at with a printing press says its spring, does not mean its spring everywhere or is it just a psychological trick to make you think its spring?

Well, the idiot with the printing press says the first day of spring would be the 20th of March(had to check my calendar for the right date).
Aside from springtime being a named season, it also means the early part or first stage of something.
So for me, as long as the temperature is staying above -5C and the snow is melting at a decent rate it's the beginning of springtime! 😊
Well at least you got to go, fishing isn't always about catching. I live in Tennessee and our Dogwoods, Pear and Cherry tree's are blooming already. I have fished all my life, but never got to experience ice fishing and the older I get the more I am ok with it.
