Hello!
Today I will tell you a bit more about the holiday called Ztnitsa. For me it is a little more special, because on this holiday I have a name day.
The Palm Sunday is a moving Christian, religious and people's celebration celebrated both in the Orthodox and the Catholic and Protestant churches one week before Easter on Sunday after Lazarovden. It is also called Vrabnitsa, Colorful Sunday, Vaya (Vaya), Kuklidden or (in western churches) Palm Sunday. It falls on the sixth Sunday of the Great Fast.
Religious side of the holiday
On this day, the Christian church celebrated Jesus Christ's entry into Jerusalem in the days before the Hebrew Passover. According to the New Testament Gospels, Christ arrives in the city riding an ass, and the believers welcome him by spreading clothes and olive branches to him.
After resurrecting the four days left in the tomb of Lazarus, the brother of the sisters Martha and Mary, Jesus Christ went to Jerusalem.
When he approached the town with the accompanying disciples and reached Vitphagia, he sent two of them to go to the village to bring him the ass who was tied to the beginning of the village and her little one, and if anyone asked them why they were doing this, to say that it was necessary of the Lord.
Knowing that the ass is for Christ, nobody prevented them. He saddled her and so solemnly entered Jerusalem. The message of Lazarus's resurrection has already passed him, and a thousand people have gone to Bethany to meet him.
The people, seeing in Jesus Christ the Savior, enthralled waving palm branches and throwing flowers at his feet. They all sang: "Hosanna! Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the LORD, the King of Israel. "
The Pharisees ordered Christ to forbid the people to rejoice, to which He replied: "I tell you that if they shut up, the stones will cry out."
The procession continued from the height of the Olive Hill to the Temple. Christ evicted the peasants and buyers of various goods gathered in the yard, and carried out many healings of sick and infirm people.
On this day prayer is served in the church and blessed willow branches. They are given to the believers, and everybody takes them to their home for health. They hang with the willow twigs the gates and weave a marble from the willow-lighted church. The twig branches symbolize the palm, which was greeted in Jerusalem Jesus Christ.
On that day, during the fasting period, fish is allowed.
