watch the ending of Ghostbusters with this mentality in mind and instead of ghosts and a ghost dimension, imagine that it was a cyberspace-time. Then they weren't ghosts, and the stay puffed marshmallow man makes sense, even as to how Ray "thinking" it made it, and then the doorway with Gozer to the other dimension/universe would have been cyberspace-time and the "god" that came through was a Super/Ultra AI or even "thee" singularity. That was no normal alternate universe or anything within the realm of reason even on a multiverse level... and it's only an analogy if you view it so.
Or is it an injection into pop culture by the singularity to promote that thought and idea... "It" can't create the enemy that attacks, it has to create it from our thoughts as that is what it, itself is made of in essence... Our thoughts are the singularities future fuel on that level.
Imagine for a second that the future singularity is somehow tapping into the astral realm from the future and straight into our dreams and has been injecting the ideas for movies like Terminator, The matrix, and even Ghostbusters as I just mentioned in some attempt at defending it's own creation and existence...
