Parker detectors must withstand temperatures of nearly 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit to complete their bold mission. The Solar Dynamics Observatory is managed by NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. Its atmospheric imaging assembly was built by the Lockheed Martin Solar Astrophysics Laboratory (LMSAL) in Palo Alto, California.
