RE: NASCAR is dying...

in #nascar6 years ago

In my opinion. It's not that the sport is dying. It's because they're f***ing up the championship for everyone, causing fans to walk off due to stupid regulations and new systems that keep ruining the sport. Most are literally saying "It's a sport with cars going in a circle.... what's so fun about that?" or "It's a dumb F%^ing sport..."

The races themselves are a turn off. They're not getting viewership of millennial's or newer generations because the vast majority watch Football or some other sport.

And like the video stated, Motorsports as a whole is Alienated. So getting anyone interested is becoming impossible anymore. I've even noticed a race for F1 is becoming incredibly hard to tune into anymore on American TV. It used to be you could switch it to CNBC or ABC and get to watch the races live. NOW, you have to watch it on a App just to see the race.... are you kidding me? I've noticed this even almost with NASCAR anymore, but they're solely FOX sport entertainment. So much for the SPEED channel...

Marketing capitalism and viewership is what's to blame here. Not the sport in general. (Although as I said, this is also part of the problem)
If anything, 80% of Americans want to watch football and not some race that in their mind has no meaning to it or history (which is BS). Hence why racing is the 1% category compared to the other sports, and is pushed off the air for live viewership.

These are the main reasons why Motorsports as a whole isn't catching on anymore in America. I blame most of it being the Football crazies we see anymore and only wanting to watch the NFL or College football games. And I CONSTANTLY hear tons of people talking like "Bro, did you watch the game?..." and I'm like "Umm... no.... I don't watch Football...." and then they alienate you on the spot like "DUDE, WTF? YOU DON'T EVEN WATCH F***IN FOOTBALL? YOU LIVE UNDER A ROCK?".

See, this is the reason NASCAR mainly is losing fan base. It's people like this that cause the sport as a whole not to exist. Soon people will be saying "What's NASCAR? I don't see them on TV....".

If NASCAR wants to improve, they need to improve their racing series along with their fan bases.
The best way to do this is add more stinken road courses! Despite what some people think, NASCAR stock cars are AMAZING on a road course. That's actually what they're mainly built for, but Oval racing is the Traditional part of the sport and will rightly stay as so.

Also, don't be afraid to going back to old rules and old roots. Sometimes, old is good. IF they have to change it because of cheating purposes or abuse to the rules, then by all means change them to a fairer racing.

Just like watching the WEC, right now the fan base is MASSIVE but the teams are walking off because of how expensive it is to run a race in 1 class. This is actually scaring the ACO and FIA to the point they're changing the classes entirely due to the manufactures running off. They don't want this! This is what NASCAR needs to do, since Dodge is no longer in the sport they need to get them back along with getting fans back!
Anything that draws attention while keeping it classic will help, it's up the fans to help them find what they're looking for in terms of keeping NASCAR alive.

And now, back to our regular program......
