Nationalism: loyalty and devotion to a nation; especially : a sense of national consciousness (see consciousness 1c) exalting one nation above all others and placing primary emphasis on promotion of its culture and interests as opposed to those of other nations or supranational groups
Today it has become synonymous with anyone who is against open borders and mass third world migration. I use to consider myself an internationalist until I realized how asinine the left was on immigration. There is no compromising with them. They won't be happy until we open the floodgates.
I agree. But what I cant figure out is how/why so many people fall for this crap! In my own family even. This actual blindness boggles my mind.
Most if not the entirety of the problem stems from the way its framed. The arugments for amnesty are typically appeals to emotion, and since people aren't logical they tend to fall for it. The manipulation of people's empathy is key to getting them on board with policies like this. Its the same strategy used to push 'syrian' refugees into Europe.
I get that but can't for the life of me understand how what you think are rational people get so sucked in. And I get the concept of cognative dissonance too. I mean..if it all werent so blatently overboard I could see it. But at the level it is now? Where you are basically an evil demon if you dont agree with a Liberal's point of view? And they can't see the ludrcousy?
I actually think that every person who believes this shit is doing so as a way to avoid facing their own personal flaws/failures. By focusing on and labeling others' so-called failures of empathy..they can avoid attending to their own life. Like a way to avoid dealing with what they know deep down 'they' should be dealing with. It's much easier to point the finger.
