National mosque Baitul Mukarram.

National Mosque of Bangladesh 'Baitul Mukarram Mosque' The mosque is situated at Paltan near Gulistan in central center of Dhaka. It is known from the history of the mosque, that the planning of building a large mosque with a large number of devotees in Dhaka was planned by the then Bawani family of Pakistan. According to that source, the owner of the Bawani Jute Mills, the initiative of Pakistan's leading industrialist, Latif Bawani and his nephew, Yahya Bawani mosque. In 1959, the initiative was taken to implement this plan by forming 'Baitul Mukarram Mosque Society'.

The design of the mosque was developed by AH Thorni, the famous architect of Sindh. The place is selected as the place of 8.30 acres of land in Paltan and Old Dhaka. Which was the Paltan pond. The construction of the mosque began on January 27, 1960 by filling the pond and ended in 1962. The mosque has been designed to make a difference in the design of the mosque with a capacity of 30 thousand devotees. No dome is added to the design as other mosques. The Islamic Foundation Bangladesh has been maintaining the mosque since March 28, 1975. In 2008, the mosque was extended to fund the Saudi government.....
