Mangyan refers to the Philippine ethnic group living in Mindoro Island but some can be found in the island of Tablas and Sibuyan in the province of Romblon as well as in Albay, Negros and Palawan. The word Mangyan generally means man, woman or person without any reference to any nationality.

Ate Leni has 7 kiddos and what she do to earn a living is to work for other people like cleaning the yard.. She's here in our house because mom asked her to clean her garden full of grasses.. In exchanhe with that she can have money to buy food for her fam and we also give her dresses.

Their tribe usually lives in mountains or hidden places. They have their own langauge depending on the name of the tribe. I've known mangyans to be hardworking people as if they don't know the word fatigue or rest. They said to be the very first people to live here in our island, Mindoro in the Philippines.. Then when other people came in they started to transfer to mountains..
