You've provided us with a touching,enjoyable read here @riverflows! I always prefer to read about conditions such as this when they are in relation to the person. And that’s just what you did :)The first time I ever came across the term SPD was last year. I had never heard about it before. And, it was precisely through reading about new research on ADHD.

Quite heart-breaking to read how the little ones with SPD find difficult to filter relevant information from overall background stimuli. This is why, to begin with, I struggled with the notion that it had been favored by evolution. But, following the lines hilighted in your post, it turns out It is linked to brain regions that process action planning and responsiveness. Evolution must have loved it! :D

Thanks! So SPD is different from SPS. SPD must be awful.. especially managing a kid with it. And whats fascinating, as you say, is that its a survival mechanism... i like to think that every person has a value in the global tribe no matter how strange they might be to us. Except sociopaths or psychopaths, we could get rid of them 😂
