The various indigenous peoples of Australia knew that in order to maintain the fertility of the Australian Bush, regularly burn-offs needed to occur.
So too with LOTUS.
Whilst we say this on every burn post, last month we felt a little uncomfortable with it given the Australian bushfires and didn't burn nor post the burn. Funnily enough, indigneous control of the land is touted as one of the ways in which we might manage the landscape to prevent such disasters happening again - although heightened temperatures and an extended fire season means that fires might be just what we have to live with in the foreseeable future.
In order to maintain and increase the value of LOTUS for its stakeholders, the Natural Medicine community will regularly burn LOTUS on a monthly basis. This is done by tallying the various amounts, and issuing the total amount to @null by the issuing account @lotuscoin.
The amount to be burned is derived from the following sources:
- Curation & Author rewards from the @naturalmedicine and @uplotus accounts.
- Personalised account badges
- Post promotion on naturalmedicine.io
- Contests and competitions
- Incentives to join in on competitions and so on.
