#468 - At the Grotto and Choco de Batirol.

Happy Wednesday evening to you my fellow Hiveans. Allow me to share these shots we got on a previous visit to the summer capital of the country. There's this one day when we arrived here in this beautiful city that we decided to go to several of its tourists spots and we decided to go to the Lourdes Grotto first and see if we can still climb its hundred stairs. Well to sum it up we did but it took a while to finish the steps and then we chanced upon two elderly women who are Igorot and they are offering things related to their culture. Since there were no tourist customers yet we need to support them since this is the way they earn their living. We had to pay for the tribal costumes or attire and they will take our photos. They helped us on how to wear them and then we pose with one of the elderly while the other was taking the shot.

We also posed near a miniature type of their old dwelling that they use to live in the early days which is still being practice up to this time. I saw one of this hut when we visited Batad and it is indeed practical, they can cook their food up there on the second floor.

This shot is also part of the mountain where the grotto is and this is just on the other side where there's this place that has a lot of bamboos standing, this path is coming from that bamboo area which we can see below and we can see that there are many erected concrete houses already beside the mountain we are visiting.

Then we decided to have our breakfast in Camp John Hay after visiting the grotto. So got into a cab and dropped at the camp and did some walking around first before we go to this restaurant they call Batirol. It's famous in social media so came here to give it a try.

They have their restaurant signage and above it is also a miniature of the nipa hut 🛖 of their ancestors.

We entered the place and got us into a small hut. Then we ordered their available breakfast, the social media posts says they have great choco here and I think its average in taste. Their corn beef with egg which my son chose for his breakfast was also below expectation because my son knows what a great tasting corn beef like those made by Purefoods but the serving in his plate are the cheap brands that taste like chemical and the meat are also not pleasing visually, could have been better compare to its price. Maybe they had better food before the place got renovated. These are just my cents about the food we had that morning and who knows they may have improved it already by now if they got same kind of reviews from other people.
