Not far away from the city center of Bucharest the nature lies in all its splendor. Delta Văcărești, Natural Park Văcărești in its official version, is an unbelievable place where nature hides behind the great buildings and factories. Located at the confluence of a few neighborhoods, Delta Văcărești is an old water storage lake whose construction started in Ceaușescu’s regime and left behind after the 1989 Revolution. Basically, this huge area was abandoned by human and retaken by nature, who began to claim its territory and started to bring its magic there.
The area was declared a natural park by a decision of the government and recently entered the administration of the Capital City Hall.
People who live near Delta Văcărești claimed that they saw during last years unusual animals for this area, like: foxes, otters, snakes, cormorants, polecats, egrets and many other species of birds and fish.
This place became a mesmerizing island in a city suffocated by cramped buildings, millions of cars and small streets. Being an abandoned place, access can be made from any place just by climbing the walls of the lake. You can look, also, after the stairs that will take on the edge of the lake. Once you’ve reached there you will be fascinated by the breathless view. You can take a walk here in the morning, to see the sunshine or, if you’re not a morning person, you can visit Delta Văcărești at the sunset. I promise you that this special place will remain forever in your heart.
PS: I recommand you to visit Delta during week days, because in the weekend is very crowded because of a famous car fair near Delta Văcărești.
