Very good question, and it is something I actually speculated about 6 months ago in one of my first posts on steem! I believe that it is the future and a stepping stone toward freedom but as you pointed out those who are in the know and early adopters will be the ones who become the rich. Which I theorize (see my post) is the same people who are in major power now. Just know that even if it is true, if it becomes the currency of choice you can still be rich along side them!
