They say that chickens are the gateway drug in the the homesteading world. In many ways I find this to be true, they are relatively easy to raise, they provide eggs and meat, they have unique personalities and more. That said, there are some bits of wisdom to share that will help you avoid some common pitfalls in your poultry pursuit, and we share them in this video.
'Gateway drug'...that's hilarious! This is really helpful and will keep in mind. Living in an apartment at present but dreaming of land and maybe a few chickens.
Same here. Hopefully, my Dream comes sooner than later...
GREAT info, I wish I would have thought of this first...
What Breed/Breeds do you guys have??? @christabfh
I read and heard Buff Orpington's are one of the best All Around Birds!
Toying with the idea of getting chooks as we call them here in Australia, in a couple of years on the new country property we'll be retiring on. You may remember me as she's a bottler on the live streams you have on utube. Gosh there's just so much to lean and so little time.
Good video, helpful info, amusingly told. And raising chickens is addictive.
I am in my 3rd year now and have also learned the hard way but it has been fun too. These are the latest ones, soon ready to go out and join the other chicken.
Good tips! We are still building up to birds, but meat birds are first on the list. Thank you
