Canoeing and Kayaking - Freedom on the Water

in #nature8 years ago

I love being on the water, and I want to share some of my favorite photos from my various canoeing and kayaking excursions.

A healthy snack on a winter kayak trip - a beer and two apples!

Evening solitude on a lake.

A private sand beach on a pond, a campfire, and boats. Fun times!

Taking a break on a sandbar along the Grand River in Northern Missouri.

Paddling upstream against the choppy water on the Skunk River in Washington County, Iowa.

Beautiful Aspen trees along the Skunk River bank, viewed from my canoe.

Rocky shallows on the Skunk River.

Dead tree trunks emerging from Watkins Mill Lake near Lawson, Missouri.

Stopping in a shaded area on Crooked Creek to go for a swim.

Arrival in Boundary Waters Canoe Area, the "granddaddy" of all canoeing locations! Located in Northern Minnesota, USA. (Referred to as BWCA.)

Paddling north with Canada in our view.

Our beautiful campsite on Horse Lake, BWCA.

My canoe, located at a portage between Gun Lake and Fairy Lake, BWCA.

Taking a break on the shore of Gun Lake for lunch and a swim. Gun Lake, BWCA.

Fishing for dinner in BWCA.

Dinner!

My canoe at rest by our campsite on Boot Lake, BWCA.

My brother's canoe on Fourtown Lake, BWCA.

Paddling back to camp before the storm arrives. Boot Lake, BWCA.

You get the idea. I'll admit that I'm obsessed with canoeing.

My canoe is almost like a child. I cherish it. It safely hangs from the ceiling in a heated garage (something I would not do to my kids) where I can admire it, and dream of paddling trips to come.

With spring arriving soon, be on the lookout for more posts about canoeing and kayaking trips! Just a forewarning! My brother and I are discussing taking another trip to the Boundary Waters this fall. I will be sure to document the experience for you, my followers and outdoor enthusiasts. God gave us a beautiful planet to enjoy. Thanks for your support!

Lovely post and great photos

Thanks! I appreciate that.

It was interesting for me. Enjoyed :)

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Eveneng solitude can be useful for me.

It's a great way to wrap up a day!

Beautiful!...Being a canoer and camper myself, I'm slightly jealous..( but in a good way..) will look out for yr next pics...

Awesome! I'm always looking for fellow outdoor enthusiasts to follow. Have you gone to Boundary Waters? If not, I highly recommend it!

Cool post and great pics. I am going to buy my first Kayak this spring. It will be a fishing kayak. I went a few times in the fall and now I am hooked. I am looking at one I can stand up in. The Feelfree Lure 13.5... You have a new follower.

Awesome! Thanks for following. Followed back. I wish I had bought a fishing kayak rather than just a plain kayak. Some day I will. But I have a 10 foot aluminum flat bottom boat that I like to use for fishing because I can stand up in it, and it is light enough to carry on my back. Post some photos from your kayak adventures. I hope to see them in my feed in the future.

Beautiful, peaceful images. Thanks for sharing! 😄😇😄
