Good evening nature enthusiasts. For tonight's Daily Nature Fix, I figured I'd share a few panoramic photos we took while on the island of Sao Miguel in the Azores. Usually, I post photos taken with the Nikon, but I do get a kick out of the "pano" feature on the iPhone. Without even really realizing it, I ended up with several of them from each trip.
^^^This photo was taken pretty high up on the rim of the volcanic caldera surrounding the town of Sete Cidades. The lake(s) you see are the twin lakes of Lagos de Sete Cidades. There were more scenic overlooks on this trip than any other we've taken so far.
^^^This pano is overlooking the town of Furnas... another one set inside the caldera of a volcano. The Furnas Lake there is green in color and along the shore on one end is a geothermal steam vent which cooked our dinner of veggies, meats, and potatoes one night.
^^^I'm not 100% sure where this photo was taken, but I think it was in the western part of the island. Again, there are TONS of scenic vistas around the island called "mirador's". The ocean around the island is often a baby blue color, especially when the sun is out. Here, you can see some grayish-brown in the water where the surf is churning the sand and volcanic silt near the shore.
^^^I'm making a cameo in this one! This was taken much farther out, but of the same town of Sete Cidades as the first photo in this blog. I like how all of those volcano craters are visible in this one. There are several over the landscape.
