Between June and July thousands of Humpback and Southern Wright Whales, travel up the East coast of Australia. They are heading to breeding grounds close to the Great Barrier Reef, and this year whale watchers are reporting a 50% increase in numbers.

Yesterday with my wife and some friends, we went to North Head at the entrance to Sydney harbor, to look for whales travelling up the coast line.
This is the view into Sydney city from North Head.
My wife and I generally go a few times a year in the hope of seeing some whales, and sometimes we manage to see one or two in the distance. Yesterday was amazing, we saw 3 groups of whales and several whale watching boats chasing them for views. You can see on this photo i took, a little water blown into the air from a whale blowhole, and the whale is splashing in front of the boat on the left. Sorry my camera is not good enough for a close up from the shore.
Another shot of the whale watching boats chasing the whales. It was so thrilling to see the whales so close to the shore, and to see so many groups of them in such a short time. It is very hard to get a shot of the whales as they only surface for moments and are gone again. The 4 boats are chasing 2 seperate groups of whales, people pay a lot of money to go on those whale watching boats.
After a while we went to local cafe for a drink, and shared this panna cotta, another perfect day in paradise.

Very nice. Looks like you had a great time. I've seen humpbacks around The Oregon Coast before. Beautiful creatures!
thanks for your comment - i followed you
Very Nice :) :) :)
thanks very much for your support
Wow, you have been active... more posts than I have done in a year..and more followers. In South Africa we also have Southern Wrights come for breeding... but there are strict laws around boats and ships and proximities to the whales. The boats in your photo's would have been fined big time by the Coast Guards.
yes they only go to 100meters here and the boats where closer than that -- thanks for checking me out - i really appreciate it -- i have been working hard on steemit cause i really like it and want to support the network to grow - i am a musician and want to develop something here to make it more supportive of all artists -- am thinking of starting a competition soon - i am humbled and happy that you came to visit - i hope we will develope our friendship too
I wish more people would realise that 'we' are Steemit... so many come here and expect money for 'cut and paste' jobs and get disillusioned when it does not materialise. For me it has been a long road, but I have learnt a lot on the way.
I am impressed with your work rate {eyes bulge} ....
i had a week off work and put in a lot of time reading and posted a few posts most days --then i saw that my influence was rising quickly so i tried to write something everyday - as you see i am a rockhound and fosseck for sapphires - i paint and i write music -so i have given social media a go a few times to promote the music -- i want to grow and learn how to write better content - if i do well i will help people when they come here like you do - i hope to earn anough to buy a bitcoin one day but besides that i hate youtube and facebook and want to help this grow into a huge social networking site ,where people can post on any topic not so much focus on crypto and writing quality - anyway if i can prove it can be done from nothing to something in a few months - i will be able to show others you don't have to sell your soul to a whale to grow ie. whaleshares and discord - i find that sucking up thing distasteful and hope i can do it my way
Nice post and pictures!
many thanks
