I try my best to promote my content anywhere I can. Somethings work better than others, but they all add up and play a part in the grand scheme. Like I share all my posts in multiple facebook groups(always wait 5-10 minutes in beetwwen those shares fyi) and while I usually see very little return from that, every so often someone finds one of my posts there and I'll get another follower. And as you know not all followers are created equal. People like @A-0-0, @A-1, @A-2, etc... are obviously BS followers that made that name and followed people just so they could be at the top of the list of followers(because it's in alphabetical order), but someone who finds my post in a facebook group and follows me is more likely to be a follower that is actually legit. And a lot of the time new followers only give me a .01 or even .00 upvote, but it's just a small part of a bigger picture.
Putting my posts on the Steemitworldmap is another great tool to help promote them. Again it's not any huge immediate impact, but just a part of the bigger overall strategy.
As for my logo... when I came to Steemit my original intent was to promote my website www.californiamountainadventure.com (which now I think is pretty crappy and needs a complete makeover in my opinion, as soon as I can find the time.) So I created that banner and linked my website and facebook page for the website. Then I learned about Discord and so I started my own CaMtnAdventures discord server and I linked that to my posts.(although I have stopped linking that one now that I link the SoCalSteemit Discord).
The other banners you see there are from the other Discord groups I've joined. Once I got on there I saw how Discord made socializing with other Steemians so easy and fun. So I started checking out different groups. Joined a bunch of them just to leave shortly there after, but the ones you see there are the ones that made the cut. SoCalSteemit is my latest project that I think you've heard a bit about. Just had our second meeting last night and we got lots of cool stuff planned. Today I'm scouting parks for another meetup in 2 weeks where we're gonna do a BBQ! And while we're not very big yet I do get support from the members. Steemit Bloggers is my favorite group, I'm lucky to have made lots and lots of great friends there. Steemit Bloggers is ran like a company with strict rules, of which as a mod there I help to enforce, but it has a great welcoming vibe and really awesome members that have become like a Discord family to me. I get lots of support from the members there. Bloggers Central was actually my first ever Discord group. I'm less active there because much of the interactions there are not in english, but my buddy (and partner in SoCalSteemit)@rt395 runs that group and they are also very supportive of me. The last 2 are my newest groups, so I can't say a ton about them, but I have met great people there as well and have received plenty of support from them. The main criteria for most of these groups is simple, if you want support, give support to other members. So everyone benefits.
Really it's about being social. This is "social " media after all. I find that the best way to get support is to support and make friends with others. I can not tell you how many times I leave a upvote and comment on a post, just to see that person come upvote and comment on my post shortly thereafter... and a friendship is born! It's key. And that's what Discord really helps with. Like just today on Discord I met and friended a really cool dude from India who likes exploring nature and taking photographs of his adventures... and guess what... there he is right above your comment here! (@mrakeshrex) The hardest part about it all just becomes keeping up with all the fun. lol. So many awesome people.
So ya, I'm sure if I just posted these posts on Steemit and didn't do any other promotion and didn't have any of my Steemit friends following and supporting me I'd probably still be getting only .01 per post like I did for the first month or so here. But thanks to the help and support of a lot of people over my time here I am quite happy to be beyond that now. And also now that I'm a 55 rep I don't seem to get curated by the really big curation operations anymore unfortunately, but I'm like the teenager thats been allowed to set out on his own after growing up. And I think I'm handling it just fine.
Oh and with the banners I am not getting any payment or any type of compensation for putting them on my posts. I'm just supporting my friends. Which in turn it supports me! It's beautiful.
