Turning To Drones In Time For Wildfire Season

in #nature7 years ago

Wildfire season is starting soon and authorities in Oregon are looking to get some help from drones in combating any problems.

Last year, it's said that the Western US saw one of its worst wildfire seasons in years. And fire fighters and rescue teams have previously deployed the use of drones to help out in spotting a fire that hadn't been spotted by a helicopter or airplane.

By opting to use drones, the BLM has estimated that the drone, by spotting the fire early, has helped them to save tens of millions in potential damages.

The federal government has already enlisted the help of unmanned aircraft to assist with fighting wildfires in the California region and elsewhere. And because they are proving so helpful, more are looking to incorporate them into their service model.

Firefighters have been using drones in a variety of areas to help them try and save lives.

The drones are helpful with firefighting in being able to locate hot spots and they can search buildings when those locations might be too unsafe for firefights to go in and inspect.

One way that they are really going to help is in saving these different rescue agencies potentially millions of dollars. This is because they can opt for using a drone to search different areas instead of going with a manned helicopter that is much more costly.

Between 2009 and 2017 it's estimated that at least 69 different fire departments in the US had purchased drones.

For those who have seen the capabilities first hand with what these drones can help to do, they say that they've been sold. Whether it's surveying wildlife, checking hot spots, drawing maps, or assisting with some other task, there are many different ways that drones can benefit rescue teams and fire departments around the US and elsewhere.

However, there is always the chance that the drone could crash in the woods though, and start another fire. Which is what happened to one drone operator recently from Arizona. But overall, they've provided tremendous value in a myriad of ways to different rescue efforts.

You're closing in on 10,000 followers! I think I must have been in the first 100. You've come a long way, Keep up the good work!

thanks man!:) what a journey it has been!

This is a really positive use of drones. I'm sure over time the technology will be more advanced and sophisticated.

Undoubtedly, the use of drones will help to minimize fire sources, since they will be able to access places and a different point of view from people in the location of fires.
I think other departments prone to fires should adopt this measure
excellent news for next season of fire dear friend @doitvoluntarily, thank you very much for sharing

This is a great use of drones @doitvoluntarily , and would definitely be an asset here in British Columbia Canada where we have hundreds of forest fires every summer , that get worse every year ! Thanks for sharing !👍👍upped and resteemed !
I left you a message in steemit chat as the FINAL Contest has ended , please check out my last updated post , I'm ending the contest for now but may do it again at a future date ! Let me know your favorites , I left a link to one of mine I really liked ! Thanks my friend , you are awesome !👍👍👍

will get on that now!

Thats ok my friend its all done , I have really appreciated all your support !😀👍👍👍✌💕

Drones present a fascinating growth market for entrepreneurs. Imaging software, controls/user-interfaces, batteries, components, etc. Really glad to see them applied in new areas away from the battlefield.

Absolutely. This post alone just gave me some fantastic uses of drones in Australia. Definitely something to research further.

Definitely. Farming has lots of uses for drones. Checking crops, water, fence lines etc.

The possibility does not escape from reality that what helps an improvement also causes significant damage. However, it should be noted that in terms of proportion; Drones have helped in many cases more than they have deteriorated situations. It is a living example for humanity and more than that, an achievement to have technology that can help us.

Nice post good work .👍👍👍

Fire at all, so nice keep it up

.... man who is not aware of the importance of forest and careless attitude so that it brings bad effects for the survival of flora, fauna, and humans.

They could make a drone big enough to carry a person out of dangerous area? if possible, drons would save lives directly.

That is already in existence...it's called a Helicopter.lol

I was thinking about unmanned drons where man do not have to be near a fire.

Semoga titik api tidak banyak.

This is awesome, this is the kind of thing that drones should actually be used for... lol

Drone, like many technologies of the 20th century, was first developed for the defense industry. Priority was designed for observation purposes. and then started to be used in military attacks made it possible to be recognized by wider masses.
Nikola Tesla's "unmanned aerial vehicle", defined as "telotomation", is the technology that forms the basis of drone technology. This shows that drones are considered for civilian use in the first place. But I think now will be used in an area that can be really helpful. An excellent idea to use for fire detection!
I love this sharing.
thank you dear friend

There are some drawbacks to using drones for these purposes. As you pointed out, greater depth and breadth of penetration of drones into wildfire prone areas does increase the chance of them starting fires.

Most of my concerns are instead how surreptitious spying on folks can be conducted under cover of wildfire spotting. Agencies, in particular the BLM, are incessantly being militarized and expanded for uses that have nothing to do with the intended agency mission by covert actors for oppressive agendae.

It's probably already true that various hot springs where people have traditionally been able to let their hair loose and relax are under constant surveillance already.

The woods are no longer a place where people can be free of surveillance.

Thanks!
