The settlement is located 12 km to the west of the city of Severouralsk (auto - 14 km), on the left bank of the Kolong River above the mouth of the right and left tributaries of the Zolotushka and Bayanovka rivers. It was founded in 1914 as a settlement of miners and loggers and in connection with the beginning of the construction of the railroad branch Vagran (Bauxite) - Bayanovka of the Bogoslovsko-Sosvinskaya railway. The name probably comes from the Russian word "bayan", or from "bayat" (the archaic form of the verb "to tell").
But, the old settlement does not exist anymore. He left only a few destroyed houses and a broken bridge.
And the new, for some reason, moved to a new place. I do not know by what. It is nearby, only on the other side of the Bayanovka River.
In 1941, the special settlement Bayanovka was the eighth largest special population of the Serov District (out of 46) and the first in the number of pop. Belonging to the organization Serovlesdrevmet (out of 24) it was inhabited by 873 special settlers, in Pokrovsk there were 366 people
