This is my first time entering a contest. I thought it would be a good place to start because my pal Maverick, (seen here smelling the violets), spend a good deal of time wandering around in the woods.
This spot is NY state owned land. They don't maintain it at all. the path you see is where they buried a cable line a long time ago. I started walking here back in the late 90's, it looked pretty much the same as it does now. So I have no idea when they actually buried a cable, but for some reason trees don't grow on the trail even 20 years later. Apparently the violets however have no problem growing here in large numbers.

One of them. Got two, either of which chases anything that runs from them. Not sure if the goose held their ground:)
