Plants that have been gifted to me will always have a special place in my heart.
Recently, I shared with some plant friends that my Philodendron Congo Rojo had died.
This is what my big beauty looked like when I first got it:

You can kind of see the leftover cinnamon on what was the roots

This was a plant I wanted for a long time, so you can imagine I was absolutely devastated when I realized it had suffered from root rot.
A little while later, I got a message-

I was completely taken back that someone wanted to replace my plant.
She didn't want money, to do a plant trade, nothing. She literally just wanted to see the Congo Rojo thrive in a loving home.
I felt so honored that even though I just told her I killed my plant, she was willing to gift me hers.

Since coming home with me this Philodendron Congo Rojo has put out several new leaves.
2 days ago I switched it from soil to sphagnum moss since it didn't have the healthiest root system when I received it.
I'm hoping that the switch to moss will promote a stronger root system and therefore encouraging the plant to grow larger.
Now it's time to test my patience and let nature take its course (let's just hope it doesn't die.)

Nice plant genus, but they are invasive in my country (Australia).
