Because Monday, fresh off a weekend's rest from editing images, learning how to make gifs and panoramas and figuring out how to get a Steemit account going for someone else, I was unhumble/foolhardy/arrogant enough to believe I can now stitch together any photos of something I know form a panorama. Monday always knows better, and this Monday was no different, perhaps even more Monday than a typical Monday.
So here are the photos I took one stunning February afternoon last year.
I had raced home to look at this rainbow from a better vantage point than this office car park, because it was a double rainbow. Here's an unedited shot which shows I didn't even roll down my car window to take the picture. What was I thinking? How often do we get to see double rainbows? Who cares if it's raining? Get out there and get that photo even if it means a soaking!
So here's what the centre and right hand sides of the rainbow looked like:
Panorama, easy-peasy with modern software, right? I know nothing, Jon Snow. And Monday was here to remind me of that.
It turns out that the pixel connectors in the various bits of software I tried recognised a Monday when they saw one - no way would they put these three pictures together. I've had my Humble Pie for lunch now and am simply going to post the photos separately and let you do that amazing human thing our brains do: stitch the photos together in your minds.
When you look at these photos you can see why software would refuse to stitch them. I hadn't taken them with the intent to create a panorama; I just thought each photo looked good at the time. Here's an example of what happened when I tried to stitch them.
Garbage in, garbage out.
But I've learned my Monday lesson. Stay humble, and if I see a double rainbow, get out there and take proper panorama pics next time.
Gracias, @yecapa! I Google translated your reply just to make sure I understood it :-). Lovely interpretation of the rainbow :-) :-).
Wowww, that's one hell of beauty. I love how you managed to take these pictures. Its really adorable. Indeed nature is beautiful, only the best eyes appreciate nature's beauty and u @kiligirl, are among them. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, @ortigas100 :-). Glad it gave you some beauty to enjoy.
Wow rainbow🌈🌈
😊😊
Where's me pot o gold..
LOL!
nature is great
Great pics ... also you can definitely fix your panoramas by "stitching" them together in photoshop! Here is a link to a webpage that explains to how to do it: https://photofocus.com/2013/11/09/how-to-stitch-panoramic-photos-with-adobe-photoshop/
Thanks, @icedrum. I tried a number of different packages and it turned out there simply weren't enough points of contact between the three pics. Perhaps Photoshop would have been able to do it.
Wow rainbow all over. :-) Last pic is awesome :-) Upvoted you.
Ummmm...thanks :-)
Beautiful images @kiligirl. Thanks for sharing and getting your camera wet in the process!
Am a nature lover too,,😘
😊
Love the broken one!
Amazing ! In the last picture it seems that the rainbow is broken in half.
Ummm, yeah.
Great now I don't have to go outside. lol
Har har!
Damn, rainbows are so hard to photograph. Cool that you managed. We had a massive storm here in Belarus about two weeks ago. I saw an absolutely perfect rainbow after it for the first time ever – from one end of the horizon to the other, and all colours clearly visible and distinguishable, too. But I couldn't make a decent photo, so that beauty is contained to my memory.
I think those memories are even more precious than photo memories 😊. Thanks for sharing!
Look at the bright side of this experience.....We learn something new everyday regardless of our age and circumstances... ;-P
Thanks, @awesome-seven 😊😊lol
rainbow and monday good combination
Thanks, @gunsmasterrock 😊
Cool photos! Great rainbows!
double rainbow!
😊
Wow! That is a stunner. The colors are so sharp. I wonder if you being so far south makes a difference. I was thinking you were in the city, but that looks pretty rural (and lovely).
I have to laugh about your idea of getting out of the car. I have done that exact thing and later looked at the photo knowing I could have done so much better by just getting out of the car! Maybe one day we will take our own advice!
Not sure whether our latitude makes a difference, bit there's no question, we do get dramatic skies here.
And on getting wet - I never learn. I thought writing about it would, er, help me be less of a wuss next time!
Lol - I hope that happens for us both! The photos will be better that way :)
👍👍😊
What could be better than one rainbow?....
two! haha
What led to the disjointed panorama picture?
At least it still looks amazing and serene
The stitching app
Wow nice one...when ever i see rainbow it brings me the inner peace
😊😊
Beautiful - looks like you found the pot of gold also
Hee hee....
The last picture is especially amazing. Thanks for sharing!
Ummm, I wish it was amazing, but thank you anyway!
Long time no see this rainbow
Very beautiful twin rainbows. Now following you.
😊😊
That is not only double, but unusually long for a rainbow. Nice work. It's just a Monday thing. We. Have good imaginations here. 🐓🐓
😊😊😊 You have such an encouraging way about you! 😘😘
About your stitching problem: You can produce really nice Panoramas and/or 360° Pictures if you make single pictures and stitch it afterwards on the computer using a Program called Kolor Autopano Giga. It does a great job.
I've been using it for a while now. I also just posted something about that today here on steemit, you can check it out if you are interrested...

Thanks, @pzd3mir. The problem with those three photos is they simply don't have enough control points to stitch together. The original photos weren't taken to be elements in a potential panorama. I posted a successful panorama of the harbour in Cape Town a couple of weeks ago.
Which program are you using?
with Kolor you can also manualy add controll points or in this case I would rather recommend positioning the picture by yourself (you can manually change the positions). Maybe it helps.
Hi @pzd3mir, I usually use Bimostitch on my phone when I've actually set up a panorama. In this case I tried to use Hugin (which allows for different kinds of image manipulation, but there were not enough control points on the three images). No stress as I was trying to prove the point of garbage in, garbage out (and mostly succeeded, although there were obviously a few people who didn't read the post and helpfully pointed out there's a weird kink in the last photo - lol). Thanks for the tip on Kolor; much appreciated. Cheers.
This rainbow is beautiful
😊😊
