Fog and Mist

Have you ever walked through thick fog and wandered what you might find just a few meters ahead. I really like walking through fog because of this. I have always wondered what it would be like to be inside a cloud and as I have researched it, I have realized it would be the same as walking through fog because it is basically the same thing except that fog and mist form near the earth's surface.

Fog and mist are also practically the same thing. The only difference is that fog is more dense than mist. Mist and fog are formed when the air is close to saturation point and water droplets or icicles start to form on dust or anything else small enough that floats in the air. There are many ways to form fog and mist. You can breath out on a cold day, air with water gets cooled, transpiration from plants, evaporation of warm water into cold air and many other ways.

I have always loved walking in fog and mist and have loved watching it blow over forest canopies, rise from plants and tar after it rains, when the sun shines on it and early in the morning on top of mountains, watching it rise cover the ground like a blanket and then rise and disappear. When I was doing missionary work in Auckland City New Zealand, it would be great to watch the fog rise off of the buildings and hide the sky tower as if it didn't ever exist. There is always something mysterious about mist and fog.
