The African leopard is really magnificent and is my favorite animal of all time. We used to have some on our mountain and in the surrounding area when we were living on a farm. I never saw any, but my family members did and we would always joke around with people when we go hiking on our mountain or in places where there were leopards that if you weighed less than 50 kg's you need to be careful because that is the weight range the leopards normally go for.
African leopards actually eat anything from as small as dung beetles to something as big as an Eland which weights about 400 kg's. They are really strong and good climbers so that they can drag carcasses into trees to keep them out of reach form other scavengers and carnivores. It is interesting to me that they are the second biggest cat, with lions being the first, and they can climb trees way better than lions.
African leopards are found in most of Africa, but are spread sparsely because of human population. They are very adaptable so they can live in almost any habitat, except in sandy desserts. They are also solitary creatures that are very territorial, protecting their territory from other leopards with violence when necessary. They are seen with other leopards only when mating and normally only a male and female, or when a female is raising a cub. They have 2-3 cubs, sometimes more and the cubs can stay with the mother for about 2 years before they go their own way.
The reason they are my favorite animal is because of their beauty and strength.
I hope that you enjoyed the post!
I agree they are beutiful
That's some raw power!
We have some truly beautiful creatures here in South Africa. I don't ever want to change South Africa for any other country on the world.
Very true, I love the landscape, it is just a shame that everything else is deteriorating.
That's define deadly beautiful.

Beautiful post , I love African leopards as well , they are so beautiful and so strong , kind of like a big cat which I wish to have as a pet :-)
The would be great to have as a pet if they were tame.
They are definitely animals of beauty and strength! They look so graceful and elegant yet powerful. Nature itself is so amazing. I hope I get to go traveling soon to experience nature first hand!
It would be nice to go travel. I always love hike and wouldn't mind going to a game reserve.

Thanks and Hi.
Great post
Thanks.
They are so beautiful, I also love lions, even more, are there lions in your surrounding? :)
Unfortunately there aren't any, they were all killed a few hundred years ago, but if they weren't, there would be a lot of them. A few hundred km's north there are lions though. Have you ever seen them in the wild?
Oh, that's great, no, I would really like to see them, specially in Africa, but now I have to be satisfield watching them on youtube :)

I mean its a smart HELLCAT :)
That is a great way to see it.
Very nice post
I love watching large cats hunt and run, anatomically they're poetry in motion, biomechanically they're a highly advanced predator with a perfectly crafted physique.
I really appreciate how you injected some personal/social experience into the article, and I'm very glad you gave attribution to the original authors of the photographs.
I'd be very interested in hearing/seeing more stories from your own personal experiences, aspects of daily life you find interesting or know to be unique on this wide but ever-more connected world.
I hope the Serval got away, it's massively outranked by the Leopard :/
Thanks. I will try to put some more of those things up. I'm not sure if the Serval got away, only the photographer would know.
This deserves some attention. Upvoted and resteemed :)
