The leaves are gone, but the seed pods are standing tall and ready to harvest.
Photos ... I took at Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge.
Go to this web site to learn how to harvest, store and plant the Milkweed seeds.

Monarch butterflies lay their eggs on the underside of the Milkweed leaves in the Spring and early Summer. The hatched larvae then eat the leaves.
The Milkweed (Asclepias) plant produces one of the most complex flowers in the plant world. Close to Orchids in complexity. Pollination is done the usual way by bees, wasps and butterflies.

Introducing a new tag for people who for whatever reason can't get out for @lyndsaybowes #walkwithme and @tattoodjay #wednesdaywalk
You can do #lookaround anywhere. If you are confined to a bed, riding in a car, train, plane or boat, in your kitchen, backyard, attic or outside. You can move around some what to get different views but should stay at one general location.
Remember the main thing is to have fun on steemit so ….. LETS #lookaround
WowZa! I love it Mike. I have my seeds dried and ready to plant in November for next year. I have a whole area for my butterflies to lay their eggs on. I will do a post so you can see how much fun I have raising them.
Cool you have so much knowledge about these things. Throw some our way. :-) How long does it take to grow a descent size plant from seed?
Mike, I have no idea as I transplanted some roots from a field a couple of years ago. This will be the first time I spread seeds myself in that area. I actually raised 11 Monarchs this year and released them. It was the coolest experience ever. I am hoping to make my green house into a butterfly house once I am done with the plants in May. This will be my first real trial for a lot of them at once. I am so excited.
I have transplanted some Milkweed a few years ago. They took but too much shade killed them.My thing was planting trees when I first moved here. Now I have to open thing up a bit to get in more sun.
Coolest thing you are doing with the butterflies. :-)
Thanks Mike, I wanted to do it for a few years and this summer I saw a female laying her eggs and that was it. I just had to help make sure the ants and ladybugs did not eat them. I so enjoyed it. I will do a post soon. I hope you can get some Milkweed to grow soon, the cats might enjoy watching butterflies flitting about outside the windows. ;-)
Wow I haven’t heard the term milkweed in years. I don’t think they are up in the Northwest. Growing up in Cincinnati they were everywhere 😀
I like how they grow in groups.

Thanks,.... I voted.
A great tag for those of us who are not mobile! I try to make myself get out but all of my photos are taken from the seat of my scooter or through the car window. That's the way I've been doing photography for the past 5 years!
Beautiful milkweed photos! I haven't seen any yet this year - there is not enough sunlight down here near my house for it to grow, but I love seeing those milkweed pods.
Thanks @melinda. Yes you can make a very good post without Taking a 3 mile hike. Not to say Hike is bad, I love that too.
