Warning! Don't watch this video if you don't like watching an Eagle eat anther bird! This is nature in action. I got this video at The Celery Fields in Sarasota, Florida. It was very unexpected to see this eagle come in an get a coot. A coot is similar to a duck. I think it first drowned it. It is a little far away in the video to see that, but that is what is typical for an eagle. It was getting dark, so the video is a little grainy as the camera tries to adjust for the darkness. Isn't is strange how most of us can't watch or look at an eagle eating a coot, but if they are eating a fish, that's no problem. What bothers you?

Never heard of a coot before! At least not as a name for a bird. Is not this word slang for a goofy old man in a Western movie?
Grizzly, but the food chain in motion.
Nature is pretty brutal.
A true pro, amazing footage bro! You must have been very patient for this. Your camera is just too sick (capturing so far away). How much did you pay for it and what kind of camera is it?
thanks Canon Vixia HF G30

" Isn't is strange how most of us can't watch or look at an eagle eating a coot, but if they are eating a fish, that's no problem. What bothers you?"
It's probably because fish don't make noises when they are dying, they just move around and then it's finished, or maybe because we are used to see a whole fish on our plates, while duck only arrives at the table after someone takes the feathers and removes the skin...
you add a nice video and your photography is so nice thanks for sharing this post... i waiting for your next post...

I am afraid, I love innocent birds
Ok now I finally need to ask, does theese things happend on coincidence or do you sit out and wait?
Im only asking because its very good captures :)
I had been walking all over the Celery Fields and then was videoing the eagle when it happened.
ahh ok, thanks for satisfying my curiosity :)
There is nothing cute about the bald eagle :) The stern look on the bald eagle face tells it all!
I've noticed that bald eagles often catch birds around sundown, and I wonder if they do it as a last ditch option if fish hunting/scavenging isn't very successful that day. Plucking feathers is no fun, but alas :)
Great video @markvance!
