I came across this most interesting caterpillar - a Manduca quinquemaculata AKA Tomato hornworm.
It is difficult to tell which end is his head and which is his butt! After researching this little insect I discovered that the end with the horn is his rear.
I hope he found a new home for the 2018 tomato season. He did enough damage to my small garden last year.
Although he was a little pesky, I can't help but admire his beauty.
