The greenish blue crystal clear and freezing water, surrounded by giant glaciers reflects the beauty of Saif ul Malook. This beautiful lake seems like heaven on earth. It is classic tale that the prince and the fair queen still live ina cave and dance above the water surface on fourteenth night of moon.
Lake Saif ul Malook is the highest alpine lake of Pakistan at an altitude of 3,224 meters and 10,578 feet above sea level. This lake lies at the Kaghan Valley near Naran and in the north of Mansehra district of Kyber Pakhtunkuwa.
The history of this exquisite lake is much famous and attracts the tourists from all over the world. The story is about a prince, Saif-ul-Malook (Prince of Egypt), who fell in love with a fairy princess, Badi-ul-Jamal. According to the locals it is a place of fairies and demons, who through the extremity of weather display their anger.
The magical lake is completely frozen during winters due to heavy snowfall. The ideal time for tourists starts from June to September as the weather of this divine place is extremely pleasant during these days.
Camping at the time of the full moon is like sitting in a fairyland. It is highly recommended for those who want to see the moon shining at it brightest amongst five billion stars in the sky.
I have been there twice and it is a privilege to witness this beautiful lake. We just say thank to the Lord for creation is natural place. Horse riding and sliding and much fun attracts the visitors there. There is very hard to leave this beautiful place.

Thank you for posting about this part of the world. It has been a dream to go through Pakistan and I hope one day I will be able to fulfill this dream with my daughter with me. In 2008, I almost made it to Pakistan from Iran but the weather was going to keep me there too long to travel overland so I missed the opportunity. I told myself that I would attempt the road again from Iran to Pakistan and into China. It has been 9 years since and this place remains on my list of places to discover.
Thank you for your kind worlds. God has blessed this part of land with great gifts like mountains, glaciers, rivers, streams, plains, deserts. This is a beautiful place to see and do visit to explore God's blessing upon this part of the world. God bless you too.
