THE BEAUTY OF A MOTHER HEN

in #nature7 years ago

This was the first time that I had ever observed this.

The term "mother hen" may be a familiar one to many of us. Additionally, some of us may have heard of a mother hen gathering her chicks under her wings. Sometimes things like that just sound nice, but other times, they are based in reality.

For those of you who don't know, we have two little chicks alive and doing well on our homestead. One had hatched out before them, but it did not make it. These two hatched just before we left for Wisconsin, and thankfully they are still doing great!

GETTING READY FOR BED

Tonight, when Monster Truck the Pepper and I were closing up our animals for the night, we noticed something. If you look at the photo above, you may just see two hens. Of course, that it all that is visible, but our two chicks are also there.

Look closely at the photo above and see if you can find someone peeking out. You may notice a tiny chick head poking out from under the wing of its mother.

Just like children crawling in sleeping bags when they are out camping, these young chicks know where they need to go to nice and toasty warm for the cool night. It was really cool to watch and we are so blessed to be able to be living the kind of life that allows us to experience these things firsthand.

PHOTOS OF OUR LITTLE ONES

If you check out the photos below, you can see how tired the hens and chicks look in some of the photos. It was so cute to watch, as they would periodically peek out while they were getting snuggled in. Some of the photos are a little grainy because the sun was setting, but you should get the idea.

It was beautiful to watch more of their maternal instinct unfold before our eyes. They've been doing it for weeks now I'm sure, but it was so cool to watch firsthand. Enjoy the rest of the photos.

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

Great post @papa-pepper 😊
Several years ago, I also have a chickens in my house, so, I really understand about the situation.
The mother hen way to protect their children from the wind was amazing. Besides that, they would be angry and chasing the humans if we approach their children. Hopefully it can be the lesson for everyone to always protect and love their children, instead of torturing and neglected.

Love is the only real thing. A mother's love provides an emotional "home" for her children. Thanks for posting this.

Nice post @papa-pepper, your hens and chicks looks nice and healthy. I am not sure how your current chicken pen is designed but you should look into a chicken tractor. It allows you to move your chickens around your yard so they don't just eat up the grass in one area, it also helps with fertilizing your land as you move them around, see example below. :-)

That is awesome! I want to get some chickens just to have a good reason to buy that.
Genius.

the maternal instinct is something that is born, any kind of female animal feels it, and its mission is always to protect their young until they grow and can become independent, that goes the same with people as a mother my mission is to raise my daughter and to turn her into a great woman so that later she travels by her alone, it is incredible the instinct that the females take like mother.

thank you for sharing so nice post congratulations friend @papa-pepper

Very well said. From your comment alone it makes me know that your daughter is blessed to have you!

my daughter is a blessing from God, and being a mother is the most beautiful gift that life has given me :)

That is so Adorable and Heart Touching @papa-pepper. Thank you so much for capturing this wonderful moment . We can clearly see the love and affection in the eyes on Mother Hen and this tells that no matter a human or animal , A mother is always caring for her children. once again, humans could learn lessons from nature instead of trying to kill nature.

@in2itiveart
very correct and i wish all humans can learn from nature...life will be simple and very ok... nice comment

Agreed. Take notes people, this is parenting!

Really Beautiful Capture!!

Thanks for nice pics
Sweet chicken

Something don't add up here.

You have chickens, and chicks, but where's your rooster? Eggs don't yield chicks without a rooster in the mix.

Did you *gasp* eat your rooster? How delicious.

He's hanging out with the hens who aren't mother's yet. I think he can help them though.

So cute, lovely chicken with chicks :)

very nice pictures

that is why some mothers are known as 'Mother Hens' from the way they protect their young from any harm.
Isn't nature wonderful.

Man, this is a great "inside" job haha, thanks for creating such a detailed insight!

Awesome, this shows how mother hen due to the great mother instinct and love protects her children , feed them and make sure that they are warm and safe. Thanks for sharing this my dear wild man.

Maternal instinct is not bound by species. I would sleep like that with my babies every night! They are getting big too though. 9 and 5. Great post.
This mama approves!

Followed and upvoted.

I still have a chicken at home. So I see it is true. The females are always protected from the rain, the wind even we are sometimes attacked by him, if we disturb his son.
so also with the instinct of a mother. mother always wants her son to be the best and he doing everything possible for his son to be better

Nice post.😊
Thanks @papa-pepper

All animals are amazing in their own ways,@papa-pepper. It is wonderful to see mother animals caring for their little ones. This is a real learning experience for the children. One that they will carry with them all through their lives.

It's interesting how hen life can be funny :D upvoted for hens and baby hens
