English Bluebells Hyacinthoides non-scripta growing in the Chilterns, May 2018
A fairly common wildflower in old Beech woodland, the violet-blue flowers add some impressive colour over the spring leaf litter.
Despite being protected under UK law, the species is in decline due to urban encroachment and hybridisation with a similar cultivated species, Hyacinthoides hispanica.
