RE: Bird Encounters

in #nature6 years ago

What a great film, but I must admit I didn't recognize the film music.

In American slang, saying someone is cuckoo means he's crazy. (meschugge; durchgeknallt; übergeschnappt) Thus an insane asylum is a "cuckoos nest," it's not really referring to the bird.

Prior to living here in Germany, for me it used to only mean, cuckoo clock, crazy, and a vague notion that there was an actual bird somewhere. I was surprised the first time I actually heard one -- but that's just me, I might not be representative.

Really a great movie and I also hardly remembered the filmmusic until your post inspired me to look after it.

I guess, what happens in a real "cuckoos nest" is also quite insane.

Thanks for sharing the great documentary. In nature it's really: "Eat or be eaten." Sometimes I think, mankind has not moved a lot further than that.

Nicholson and the Chief, that was epic! Yeah the law of the jungle is very much alive ;-)

There was a great comedy about an insane asylum with Micheal Keaton, did you ever see this one?

Yes :-) I remember this - it's a shame, that these kind of films are rarely shown on TV anymore.
