Zero waste is the necessity. The rate at which waste is produced today is alarming. Small countries do not have land for garbage dump. It is causing all sorts of health problems to ppl.
In India I worked with pioneer of Zero waste management practises Mr. srinivasan frm Vellore. He started this practise in Vellore and made a model zero garbage town in India. He also Made Ambikapur as zero waste model town. Mainly there are 2 kinds or waste. Wet waste which is Food waste and Dry waste which are plastic, paper, metals which are recyclable materials. Mr. Srinivasan created various sorting areas in ambikapur. He designed a electric pickup vehicle which has 2 compartments i.e wet and dry. Wet and dry waste are collected separately in compartments of pickup vehicle. This waste is now seggregated at sorting center as per the categories of waste.. They are processed and sent to recycling favtories. Food waste is composted. Fresh vegetables waste is fed to cattles amd dung obtained frm cattle is converted to Cow Dung. In this way around 95% waste is recycled. Small percentage of materials are non recylable hence they are desposed off scientifically..
This is now being implemented in many cities in India. It takes time to make people underatand this subject to seggregate waste at home. But a significant developments are taking place in India regarding reducing the waste.
