I believe almost everyone here know about the highest mountain in the world. It's knwn as Mount Everest, it has the highest Altitude about 8,850 meters (29,035 feet) above sea level and we have climbers all over the world yearly hoping to receive distinction as the World Highest Climber.
Do you know what it means to be the highest mountain because we hear everyone names Everest as the highest Mountain but do we really know what that means.... Let's grab some details below;
Mount Everest is known as the world's highest mountain simply because it has the "highest elevation above sea level" greater than other mountains. It could also be called the "highest altitude." Some other mountains can be taller, bigger or any other special features.
Do you know Mauna Kea... It's actually the tallest Mountain in the world. It has an altitude of 4,205 meters (13,796 feet) which is a bit lower than Mount Everest.
Why is it considered tallest?
This is because Mauna Kea is about 10,000 meters tall in comparison to 8,850 meters for Mount Everest. Hence, making it the "world's tallest mountain" from base While Mountain Everest is the highest elevation above sea level.
