Why? I think it is a part of their culture and tradition. We used to have a banana plantation next to our apartment and the view was nice.

On the west side of the island, where they are not covered by this ugly white cloth, they are fascinating and landscaping. But in the east when you look downhill into the landscape, you see only the white-yellow surfaces that ruin the countryside.

Ah ok, got your point now. I lived in the north and often hiked up in the mountains and there were no plantations, just the original beautiful landscape.
