That's my pic! Pretty lucky :)
Good morning Steemit !
I just wanted to share with you guys a live video feed I found earlier this week of a Pair of Scarlet Macaw's nest!
The feed is located in a very beautiful place called Punta Leona, in the central pacific Coast of Costa Rica.
I remember younger seeing these birds caged and sold in the streets. The population was drastically reduced but slowly they have been increasing again.Today they are a common sighting. I usually see these birds when we go to the beaches in that area or down south!
Legend says they live and mate with the same partner for life! I usually see them flying in pairs so I think that may be true.
This live feed is really cool and they are almost ready to hatch.
The pair of Macaws laid their first egg on January 14, 2017, the second three days later, and the third four days later. As of February 6, the young will be born.
After three or four months, they will finally leave the nest.
The scarlet macaw is a member of the parrot family and is native to parts of Central and South America. The Central American sub-species found in Costa Ricas also inhabits parts of Mexico, Guatemala and Belize.
In Costa Rica, the best places to view them are in Corcovado National Park on the Osa Peninsula, and Carara National Park, just outside of Jaco.pu
