It's not uncommon for me to find snails in my garden or even around my yard, but I've never found them up in the air on my bee house. Land snails enjoy plants, fungi, fruit, and algae. What gives? I haven't a clue what they are after. Plus, I imagine it took a bit of effort on their part to climb up the six foot pole, I have the bee house hanging from.
On a side note: I love this bee house. All kinds of pollinators use it on a regular basis. It's a couple years old and showing it's age for sure. I have been collecting rivercane (A bamboo native to North America) to build a new bee house of my own.
But back to these snails. I wonder if the weather conditions had anything to do with it? The day had been very overcast with mild rain showers. There isn't any vegetation in the direct vicinity (meaning leaning or touching the bee house) and I don't believe my area (KY) has any carnivorous snails (I could be wrong). It really is a puzzlement to me.

They are just chilling :) . Snails are so pretty.
Thanks for posting!
Very correct @silent.screamer snails are pretty... Nice comment
That's good to know. I was hoping no malicious intent towards the larva. Nature just fascinates me. I love being the observer.
They are beautiful! Thank you for sharing @themerrylotus.. I want to have my own homestead in the future, I know I can do it too 😊 maybe near a lake 😘
You will make it happen! It took me several decades to make my dream come true. When it's right, you'll know when to leap.

How kind. Thank you.
So Cuteeeeee
They are adorable.
That is weird! Maybe they were just on a walk about!? I love the photos! Cool bee house! I need to build one!
Haha, I like that idea, a walk about. The house is about 3" deep if you ever get a hankerin' to build one. It's a huge success over here. Plus it's cute to look at.
Now THAT is one awesome Bug Hotel! :-O
I bought that bee house at Aldi's grocery store for $8 a couple years ago. It's made very cheaply and falling apart but all kinds of pollinators use it regularly. After a hole has vacated, I drill it back out. I've got all the materials to make a new one, it's the time I lack. Maybe this winter when I'm snowed in.
I do like Aldi for a good deal. Shame it's falling apart. I was going to build one out of scrap pallet wood this year but time just goes so quick. I'm not looking forward to snow this year
Pallet wood around here is usually oak, that will last a nice long time for you. This one was made of pine and held together with brads. Haha, you can add this project to your list of a 1000 things to do.
haha! I do have a pretty big list that's constantly 'growing' :)
Maybe you have some explorer type snails there lol They do end up in the weirdest places including sometimes in some garlic butter? Mmm! lol
I love them in garlic butter, yum, yum.
Those poor wandering snails don't know their fate. Get the pan on lol
LOL, if they were any bigger, you know it.
beautiful! :-)
Thank you. That means a lot from a photographer. I got lucky.

Wow... Nice bee house...the snail... Looks very ok to me... @themerrylotus nice photo.... Keep it up
Thank you. The bee house has been a huge success this year and I guess the snails wanted a look too. They visited, remained harmless and left. I'm glad I caught them on camera.
