CREEPY CRAWLIES

in #nature7 years ago

Found this special thing at the river with @hethur240 and friends. I don't know if it was thrown into the water with some rocks a little girl was playing with, or if it lived in the river. My friend saw it and plucked it out thinking it would probably drown. As I took pictures, it tried very hard to hide under the gravel on the bank. I tried identifying it but to no avail. So we shall call it Ozark River Butterfly until somebody smarter than I can figure it out!!

On the same day of our river adventure, @hethur240 found something in the rocks. Can you see it?

No? Look again!! (if you saw it, kuddos to you, this guy was excellent in his camo!)

Hello Mr. Frog!!

And this guy I found at my mothers house, We did some propping with a branch of wild flower!

I'm pretty sure he is some sort of swallowtail or something super common so I didn't bother going back to try to identify him, not after the lack of success with the purple one. I'm just a little upset I may never know what the Ozark butterfly will turn into... Oh well, still glad to have seen them and get a photoshoot!

Thanks for stopping in!

That last one I believe is a swallowtail of some kind. Too bad we never did identify the first one. I'll try the Bi-State Bugs group on FB.
