Yep, rats are way too good at hitchhiking with ships and infesting new areas.

Speaking of fixing human mistakes of introducing animals: we Norwegians also brought our raindeers down there so they could hunt and eat these when whaling. The entire island used to have a huge population of them until Statens Naturoppsyn went down there and killed them all a few years ago!
