Hello everyone!
My first post was about Red Lake, and now I'm going to tell you some interesting facts about Blue Lake, one of the most beautiful lakes in Croatia.
The lake is located along the west edge of Imotski, near the Read Lake. Its water level, during the year, significantly oscillates, mostly it’s 90 m. In 1942 an earthquake cause landfall resulting in reduction of the lake’s depth.
There is a fortress on the east side of the lake.
The central and the highest part of the fort was built during the 13th and 14th centuries. From that time until the 18th century it has experienced numerous refurbishments.
Every few years the lake completely dries up.
In that case football is played at its bottom. The game is played by Wolves and Elves, two teams from different sides of the lake. The first game was played in 1943.
It is interesting that the game ends each time without a winner.
During the summer months water is enough deep for swimming, and it is not uncommon to play various water sports.
If you asking yourself why is called the Blue Lake, it's because of the blue color of the surrounding rocks.
probably the coolest football field in the world!
Actually, it is :).
