These are my photo entries into the Trees Tuesday Nature Photo Contest run by @shadalene.
I took these while hiking in Redwood National Forest in Northern California with my husband. I loved being here to see elk along the rivers and to experience the feel of the shallow forest floor echoing as we'd walk among the giants of the old forests. We camped near here many nights listening for a small sea bird coming and going with it's small beeps just as early light hit the forest.
Marbled murrelets are endangered and go back and forth from the nearby sea to the tops of these old growth trees to make their nests. When a nest is located the forest is considered critical habitat and is safe from logging. My husband was part of an endangered species program protecting these seabirds and in hand these ancient forests.
Long live the trees!
Resteemed by @photoworld! Good Luck!
Check out the great posts I already resteemed.
thank you!
The immensity and character that is expressed by these trees is impressive. How long is it there posing?, what have it seen with time?
Some of the trees in these forests are said to be over 2,000 years old~ humbling to stand in their presence to say the least.
Awesome Work!
