I have worked in the tactical community for over 11 years, I am not sure what occupation Yankee holds, however I have received exemplary training by various retired NSW individuals regarding CQB and Tac Medicine, where as usual we venture into firearms discussions. The Glock 19 and 17 were seeing routine, "adoption" far before the official stances were taken as we saw last year. A Delta medic told me face to face in a regional training class that he and nearly every guy in his unit chose Glocks for various reasons ranging from ease of parts acquisition, field maintenance, so on and so forth. All one really has to do now is see recent photographs of "in the field" or "in theatre" SF guys, MARSOC, NSW, DELTA and so on to see the overwhelming majority of secondary weapons are indeed now Glock 19 and 17. Our entire SWAT team transitioned to Glock over the last 2 years. That is my experience on this.
