The Best NBA Performers Weekly! It’s Sunday and like every Sunday it’s time to discuss the NBA surprises.
This week a lot happened again in the NBA like always, we had the All-star selections and some suspensions and injuries, and of course like every week some teams that are building towards a strong winning streak.
As you know I select my weekly surprises every week, but how do I decide who makes the list? Simple its either a surprising individual performance, but I also look at how the team is doing and how a player contributes to the success of his team.
This week I watched a lot of games again, Winter in Europe! So are you ready for this week’s list?
Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot
I wish I put money on the Sixers making the play-offs, in my season preview edition I said that the team out of Philadelphia would make the play-offs and that the tanking days were far from over.
And look at them now, they are 8-2 in their last 10 games and are currently in the 6th seed in the East!
The Sixers have a strong core off young guys like Simmons, Embiid, Saric and Fultz when he is healthy.
Most will not name Luwawu-Cabarrot but he is doing great, only 22 years old and I my pick for this week’s list.
The sixers beat Memphis, Chicago and the Spurs and Luwawu-Cabarrot really stepped up. Averaging 17 points in around 20 minutes, so please people cheer for him to, he deserves attention!
Raymond Felton
Next month I will see OKC play against the Warriors in California, I am super excited. At first when the season started I was afraid they could net get the right chemistry and would trade people away, but just over half way of the season the Thunder are 5th in the West and all the veteran players adjusted and it looks like they can make some noise when the platy-offs start.
We all are familiar with Westbrook play but to me Felton deserves to in this week’s post. He is almost 34 years old, player for 7 teams and knows how to be a professional Basketball player.
For OKC he is averaging 17 minutes and 7 points a game and maybe more important he is part of the locker-room to coach the younger players on the team.
DeMarcus Cousins
6th in the West, winning 4 in a row! The Pelicans had something strong going on, the NBA is getting faster, smaller and there is more shooting. The pelicans are the only team that gives us “bigs” Basketball still and it was sort of paying off.
This week I selected DeMarus Cousins to be in the list because he got injured really bad and will miss the rest of the season. In a week he was selected as All-star and posted a 44-23 and 10 game! He was really playing well.
So, I wish you all the best for your recovery and all the best to the Pelicans trying to make it onto the play-offs.
Julius Randle
The Lakers are hoping on some free agents after the season, so Staples Centre can be owed by the Lakers again, this season the Clippers will steal the show. Luckily the All-star game is hosted in LA so the people can see the star power they are used to.
The Lakers won 4 in a row and are making some noise in the West, again they won’t make it to the Play-offs but they are developing some great talent.
After missing most of his first year Julius Randle is getting in shape and is showing his potential.
He was key in beating the Knicks, Boston and Chicago this week. Scoring 27 and 14 points twice. His rebounding is really strong as well averaging 10 for the week.
So keep an eye on his play, he is getting better every week.
“happy to make the list”
Andrew Wiggins
The Timberwolves won ten straight at home and are on pace to be the 4th seed in the West! Making the play-offs after years without even getting close, last season they won 31 games and right now they are on 32. What a turnaround!
If they keep up the great home play they will be difficult to beat come April. They only improvement they need will be being more competitive against elite teams. This week they lost against Portland and the Warriors but beat the Clippers and the Nets.
Without Butler (missing 4 games this week) The Timberwolves needed others to step up and that is what Andrew Wiggins did.
He scored a game high 40 points this week and he is averaging 18.1 points for the season, In January however his average is 21 points so he Is getting locked in more every month.
Thanks for stopping by, hope you liked this week this week’s list! As always back for more next week!
Too bad cousins got hurt this week. He was unreal with his last few stat lines. The big fellow and play.
is sucks, love to see as many strong teams as possible, will ga to California next month to watch some games! thanks for stopping by as always
The big questions for the Pelicans is going to be what to do this summer? Do they re-sign Cousins? What does it mean for Anthony Davis' future in New Orleans?
very interesting indeed, think he will end up somehwere else.
thanks for stopping by
So sad to see Boogie Cousins go down. I was watching that game live... I knew it the second it happened. Non-contact injury, grabbing his lower leg. Watched enough NBA to know what happened. Such a shame
Thanks for the update!

Veteran Raymund Felton has been playing great for OKC off the bench. He can score and can pass. He used to play with the Knicks alongside Carmelo Anthony.
