Report: Dan Gilbert Tried to Trade Kyrie Irving and Asked LeBron to Commit Long Term to Cavs, But Was Told No. This would have been a BAD move in my opinion. Comment below with your thoughts.

Definitely would have been bad. The Cavs need Kyrie since he is one of the best closers in the game. The expendable piece, as the 2+ years of trade rumors back up, is Klove. I still want the Cavs to keep him too, though :)

It'd be nice if they could keep him and add pieces but he's the odd man out on this one. Thompson is a better rim protector and hustler his conract and age give him the advantage.

Yeah it would have been a very bad move. Irving is one of the key players on the cavs roaster

BEST FINISHER AT THE RIM PERIOD!!

Great info. I never saw that. Now I think there is real danger in Lebron bolting. He did his part. He won Cleveland a title. I think if he goes elsewhere after next season it wont be as near as bad when he left originally.

I read that Paul George wants build a super team with him, Lebron, and Klay Thompson for the Lakers! But also I read he would sign long term with the Cavs if Lebron did the same.

So who knows? lol

Who knows, haha. I still think Lebron will stay, but it all depends on how next years postseason plays out. If no moves are made now and they suffer a similar fate against the Warriors? He might be gone. I'm still hoping for a Melo and Wade buyout and have them both join the Cavs...now that would be fun!

If Billups is smart he'll make some moves (getting rid of Love is paramount)

he is not signed yet. last i heard is billups countered the original offer yesterday and he said "the ball is in Dan Gilbert's court".

you seem to have good cleveland sources. any news on this?

That might be tough. But I know Lebron would LOVE to play with best friends Carmelo, Wade and CP3. CP3 is now likely forever out of the question. But a lot will have to happen.

There will be no buyouts. They will have to be traded. Dolan fired Phil Jackson as he refused to buyout Carmelo's contract for $50 million. John Paxson said they won't trade Dwayne Wade unless they get something of equal value back and expect him to play for the next year.

But I think Carmelo can be traded for cheap. And he would be open to it now as it is not Phil's idea anymore. It seems though they really want get Paul George like every other team in the league. lol. More moves are coming soon. Should be fun.

We'll see about the Wade situation, though. Paxson has said a lot of things and gone back on them before, so I don't take what he says very seriously any more. I definitely think Wade will play half the year and collect his $12M, but he doesn't want to play on a rebuilding team so he might push for the buyout (no one is going to take his contract in a trade). Melo's situation is more tricky of course (two years, $50M), but its still possible when you consider how irked Melo has become because of all this drama, he might try to force it or not play lol.

Paul George wants a guarantee that Lebron will sign an extension if he goes to the Cavs and Lebron isn't committing to ANYTHING past his contract (which is smart). Without that assurance, George isn't willing to give the Cavs any indication that he'll stay which makes the trade dead. Magic is positioning the Lakers for some interesting moves!!

Anything can happen. This has been a surprising off season. I know the Cavs are confident if they get George he will like the winning culture and will resign and therefor not concerned if he does not sign an extension right away. The Cavs have to do something. What they have now will not win a championship. Other teams are getting better and they are staying status quo for now.

It's crazy all of these things hinge on ONE player LEBRON. Wherever he goes becomes an optimal landing spot to these guys. I agree Cavs DEFINITELY have moves to make. There's plenty of time still for things to play out this is day 1 of crazy things haha
